Tampa Bay Sun FC and Dallas Trinity FC played out a 1–1 draw in USL Super League action on Saturday, with Allie Thornton opening the scoring early for the visitors before Carlee Giammona equalized midway through the second half.

Dallas wasted no time making their intentions known. Thornton struck in just the sixth minute, converting from a Chioma Ubogagu feed to put Trinity FC ahead. The early goal forced Tampa Bay into a chasing position for the bulk of the contest.

The first half wound down with little else of note beyond a yellow card for Dallas's Sealey Strawn just before the break. Tampa Bay came out for the second half pressing for an equalizer but picked up a booking of their own when Brooke Hendrix went into the referee's notebook in the 50th minute.

The hosts' persistence finally paid off in the 68th minute. Giammona latched onto a pass from Sydny Nasello and found the net to level the score at 1–1. Tampa Bay's relief was short-lived in terms of discipline, though — Jordyn Listro was cautioned just four minutes later, and McKenna Battilla followed her into the book in the 85th minute. Three yellow cards in the second half alone painted a picture of a Tampa Bay side that grew increasingly physical as the match wore on.

Neither team could find a winner in the closing stages, and the points were shared.

The draw keeps both sides searching for the kind of full three-point result that could prove decisive as the USL Super League season continues to take shape.
