Forward Madison FC and Charlotte Independence played out a 1–1 draw in USL League One action on Saturday, with Joseph Skinner opening the scoring early for the visitors before Ryan Carmichael equalized for the hosts in the second half.

Charlotte took control of the game quickly. Skinner struck in the 11th minute, finishing off a Reudd Manin delivery to put the Independence ahead. The early goal gave the visitors something to protect, and they carried the advantage into halftime without further incident.

Forward Madison found their response midway through the second half. Carmichael pulled the hosts level in the 58th minute, converting from a Stephen Annor assist to make it 1–1. The equalizer seemed to inject urgency — and frustration — into the match. Claudel Ngoubou and Matt Glaeser were both cautioned in the 67th minute for Forward Madison, and Kerfalla Toure followed into the referee's notebook in the 82nd minute as the home side pushed for a winner.

The closing stages grew testy. Edwin Munjoma picked up a yellow card in first-half stoppage time added on at the end, and Charlotte's Christy Manzinga was booked moments later in the 93rd minute. Four yellows for Forward Madison on the night painted a picture of a side that threw everything at finding a second goal but couldn't break through.

The point leaves both teams sharing the spoils in a result that does little to shift the momentum for either side as the season enters its final stretch.
