Athletic Club Boise and Corpus Christi FC played out a goalless draw in USL League One on Saturday, with neither side able to find a breakthrough despite a feisty encounter that produced eight yellow cards.

The match got heated early. Corpus Christi's Jack Keaney was booked in the 13th minute, and teammate James Talbot followed him into the referee's notebook just two minutes later. Blake Bowen picked up a third Corpus Christi yellow in the 21st minute, setting a combative tone before the half-hour mark. Boise weren't immune either — Phillip Mayaka was cautioned in the 37th minute. Mason McCready added another Corpus Christi booking in first-half stoppage time, meaning the visitors had already collected four cautions before the break.

The second half continued in a similar vein. Nate Miller was shown yellow for Boise in the 64th minute, and Sam Roscoe-Byrne joined Corpus Christi's growing list of offenders a minute later. Jackson Dietrich rounded things off with a late booking deep into stoppage time.

Six yellow cards for Corpus Christi told the story of a side that leaned heavily on physicality to keep Boise at bay — and it worked. Neither team managed to convert whatever chances came their way, leaving both goalkeepers with clean sheets but offering little for either set of supporters to celebrate.

The point does little to shift the picture for either club, though Corpus Christi's persistent fouling could become a concern if the bookings continue to pile up at this rate heading into the stretch run.
