AV ALTA FC and Charlotte Independence shared the points in a 1–1 draw in USL League One action on Sunday, with Jerry Desdunes rescuing a late equalizer for the hosts in stoppage time.

Charlotte Independence struck first through Jon Bakero in the 21st minute, giving the visitors an early advantage they would carry for the bulk of the match. AV ALTA FC struggled to find a response in the first half, and Christian Ortiz picked up a yellow card in the 36th minute as frustration began to creep in.

The second half followed a similar pattern, with Charlotte content to manage their lead. Christopher Jaime was cautioned in the 57th minute, and the Independence indiscipline continued as Souaibou Marou saw yellow in the 79th minute and Mathis Guffroy followed him into the book in the 87th. Three second-half bookings pointed to a side sitting deeper and doing whatever it took to protect the result.

It wasn't enough. Desdunes struck in the first minute of stoppage time to level the score and deny Charlotte all three points. It was a gut punch for the visitors, who had done enough defensive work to suggest they would see the game out, and a lifeline for an AV ALTA FC side that had looked short of ideas for long stretches.
