Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC and Lexington SC played out a 1–1 draw at home on Saturday, with Xavier Zengue's early opener canceled out by a second-half equalizer from Khori Bennett.

Lexington took charge early. Zengue put the visitors ahead in the 11th minute, finishing off a Marcus Epps delivery to give his side a deserved lead. The goal came just minutes after Bennett had been cautioned for the Switchbacks, the forward picking up a yellow card in just the fifth minute.

Colorado Springs struggled to find a way back into the match for much of the contest. The second half brought increased urgency — and increasing frustration. Patrick Burner was booked in the 57th minute, and Lexington's Phillip Goodrum followed him into the referee's notebook three minutes later as the game grew more physical.

Bennett, though, made sure his evening would be remembered for more than that early booking. The striker leveled in the 79th minute to pull the Switchbacks back into it and earn a share of the spoils. The final minutes produced no winner, though Frank Daroma did pick up a late yellow for Colorado Springs deep in stoppage time as the hosts pushed for a goal that never came.

The draw keeps both sides searching for consistency in the early weeks of the USL Championship season, with neither able to turn a competitive match into three points.
