Union Omaha saw off Charlotte Independence 2–0 at home on Saturday in USL League One action, with goals from Marlon Vargas just before halftime and Sergio Ors deep into stoppage time sealing the three points.

The first half was a scrappy affair. Charlotte's Souaibou Marou picked up a yellow card in the 22nd minute as challenges flew in early. Union Omaha grew into the game as the half wore on, and they found the breakthrough right on the stroke of halftime. Vargas finished from an Allen Gavilanes delivery in the 44th minute to send the hosts into the break with a deserved lead.

Charlotte came out pressing for an equalizer after the interval but struggled with discipline. Jeando Fuchs was cautioned in the 55th minute, followed by Joseph Skinner four minutes later — three yellows for the Independence inside the hour mark. Union Omaha picked up bookings of their own through Younes Boudadi on 72 minutes and Laurence Wootton on 82, but neither side saw red.

Charlotte pushed numbers forward late, leaving themselves exposed at the back. It cost them in the sixth minute of added time when Ors, set up by Wootton, struck to double Union Omaha's advantage and put the result beyond any doubt.

The clean sheet and comfortable scoreline extend a strong run for Union Omaha as the League One season enters its final stretch, while Charlotte Independence will head home empty-handed and needing answers quickly.
