Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC and Tampa Bay Rowdies played out a goalless draw in USL Championship action on Saturday, with neither side able to find a breakthrough despite a testy second half that saw four Pittsburgh players booked in the space of 12 minutes.

The first half offered little in the way of talking points beyond a yellow card shown to Tampa Bay's Max Schneider in the 27th minute. Neither team managed to convert their chances, and the sides went into the break level.

The second half was a different story — not for goals, but for discipline. Pittsburgh's frustration began to boil over midway through the period. Trevor Amann was cautioned in the 63rd minute, and things escalated from there. Eliot Goldthorp picked up a booking in the 72nd minute before Rob Vincent and Charles Ahl followed in quick succession in the 74th and 75th minutes respectively. That cluster of cards suggested a Riverhounds side growing increasingly agitated as the match wore on, though none saw red.

Tampa Bay, for their part, were content to stay compact and avoid mistakes. The Rowdies held firm and left Pittsburgh with a point, a result that will likely satisfy the visitors far more than the hosts.

The draw extends what has been a frustrating stretch for Pittsburgh, who were unable to capitalize on home advantage, while Tampa Bay will take a clean sheet on the road as a positive heading into the final weeks of the regular season.
