NPSLNew Haven United FC claimed an impressive road victory over West Chester United SC on Saturday, winning 4–2 in NPSL action to complete a dramatic second-half turnaround.
West Chester appeared to be cruising after building a 3–1 advantage. L. Almeida opened the scoring in the 17th minute, and J. Ricks briefly leveled for New Haven in the 26th. P. Alessio then put the hosts back in front before halftime — first with a goal in the 35th minute, then again when A. Taleb added a third just before the break in the 45th to make it 3–1 heading into the interval.
The second half told a completely different story. Alessio pulled one back for West Chester in the 64th minute to restore a two-goal cushion — but C. Burris responded almost immediately for New Haven in the 68th, cutting the deficit to 3–2 and shifting the momentum decisively toward the visitors. New Haven then piled on further pressure, and despite A. Axtman being sent off in the 80th minute to leave New Haven a man down, the visitors held firm and added a fourth goal to seal the win.
The red card for Axtman added late tension, but New Haven's lead proved unassailable. West Chester, despite the efforts of Alessio — who finished with two goals — couldn't find a way back.
The result is a significant three points for New Haven United FC as both clubs continue their push through the NPSL summer campaign.
