Miami FC and Detroit City FC played out a 2–2 draw on Saturday in a bad-tempered USL Championship clash that saw nine yellow cards and a late equalizer. Maximiliano Rodríguez and Derrick Silva scored for Detroit, while Jürgen Locadia and Gerald Díaz found the net for Miami.

Detroit struck first in the 34th minute when Rodríguez finished off a pass from Alex Dalou to give the visitors the lead heading into halftime. The first half grew increasingly fractious — Haruki Yamazaki had already been booked for Detroit before Miami picked up two yellows in quick succession through Arney Rocha and Angelo Calfo in the 43rd and 44th minutes.

The second half continued in the same vein. Kobe Hernández-Foster was cautioned for Detroit in the 54th minute, and just a minute later Miami pulled level. Locadia converted from a Rodrigo da Costa delivery to make it 1–1. Locadia himself was then booked in the 62nd minute, but Miami had all the momentum. Two minutes later, Díaz completed the turnaround, finishing from an Alessandro Milesi assist to put the hosts ahead 2–1.

The cards kept coming — Aedan Stanley and Rodríguez were both cautioned for Detroit, while Denilson Milanés joined Miami's growing list of bookings in the 87th minute. Then, with the clock ticking toward full time, Silva struck in the 89th minute. Hernández-Foster, booked earlier in the half, provided the assist as Detroit snatched a point that had looked unlikely moments before.

The draw leaves both sides sharing the spoils in a contest that will linger more for its ill discipline than its quality.
