NPSLMinnesota Blizzard FC surrendered a two-goal lead at home on Saturday, drawing 2–2 with Dakota Fusion FC in NPSL action. J. Owen and T. Suzuki had the Blizzard in control before F. Cuevas and N. Mortenson — the latter deep in stoppage time — rescued a point for the visitors.
Owen opened the scoring just eight minutes in, giving Minnesota an early cushion. Dakota Fusion's Cuevas picked up a yellow card shortly after in the 11th minute, and the visitors looked rattled. Suzuki doubled the advantage in the 37th minute, and the Blizzard went into halftime sitting comfortably at 2–0.
The second half was a different story. Dakota Fusion came out with urgency, though the discipline issues continued — J. Morgan was cautioned in the 53rd minute, followed by N. Sealy in the 60th. Two minutes later, Cuevas, already on a booking, pulled one back to make it 2–1. It was a risky game for the forward, but one that paid off. K. Green was then booked for Minnesota in the 64th minute as the match grew increasingly fractious.
The Blizzard looked set to hold on for all three points, but Mortenson struck in the 90th minute to level the score. Tempers flared late, with J. Hatton and C. Hermanson both picking up yellow cards as the final whistle approached.
For Minnesota, dropping two points from a commanding position will sting, while Dakota Fusion will take confidence from a comeback that keeps their road form ticking over as the NPSL season hits its midway stretch.
