New York Cosmos and Corpus Christi FC played out a goalless draw in USL League One action on Saturday, with neither side able to find a breakthrough across 90 minutes.

The match started with an edge. Corpus Christi's Nacho Abeal was booked inside four minutes, setting an early tone of physical play. The Cosmos' Chevone Marsh followed him into the referee's notebook in the 20th minute, picking up a yellow of his own as challenges flew in during a scrappy opening period.

Clear-cut chances proved elusive for both teams. Whatever either side created, the opposing defense held firm, and the first half ended without a goal to show for it.

The second half brought more of the same frustration, particularly for the visitors. Arthur Medina was cautioned in the 61st minute, and Éamon Zayed joined him nine minutes later, meaning Corpus Christi FC collected three bookings on the afternoon. The accumulating cards suggested a team increasingly stretched and resorting to fouls, yet the Cosmos couldn't capitalize on any resulting set pieces or momentum swings.

Neither goalkeeper was beaten, and neither team could point to a moment of real quality in the final third. It was the kind of game where a single piece of individual brilliance might have decided things, but it never arrived.

The point apiece does little to shift the picture for either club, with both sides left searching for the attacking spark needed to turn draws into wins as the season moves deeper into the summer stretch.
