Orange County SC came from behind a scoreless first half to defeat Monterey Bay FC 2–1 on the road Saturday night, with Tom Brewitt and a Nico Gordon own goal doing the damage before Paul Gindiri pulled one back late.

The first half produced no goals but plenty of edge. Brewitt picked up a yellow card in the 27th minute, and Monterey Bay's Gindiri followed him into the book at 39'. Neither side managed to break the deadlock before the interval.

That changed quickly after the restart. Brewitt, already on a caution, headed Orange County in front three minutes into the second half. The visitors doubled their lead just three minutes later when Gordon, a Monterey Bay defender, turned the ball into his own net to make it 2–0 in the 51st minute.

Orange County's Garrison Tubbs was cautioned in the 59th minute as the visitors looked to manage the game, and Monterey Bay pushed numbers forward in search of a way back. Gordon, looking to atone for his earlier misfortune, played a part in that effort — setting up Gindiri to strike in the 88th minute and cut the deficit to one. It was a small redemption for Gordon and a reward for Gindiri, who had played the entire second half while carrying a booking.

Monterey Bay threw everything forward in the dying moments but couldn't find an equalizer. The final whistle confirmed a 2–1 away win for Orange County SC, who collected a valuable three points on the road to strengthen their position in the USL Championship standings.
