Loudoun United FC secured a 2-0 victory at Miami FC on Saturday, with Edward Davis scoring twice in the dying stages to steal all three points on the road. Davis struck in the 85th minute and again deep into stoppage time to settle a contest that had been goalless for the vast majority of the 90 minutes.
The first half produced little of note in the final third, though Miami's Arney Rocha picked up a yellow card in the 33rd minute. The game remained tight and cagey as the second half wore on, with neither side able to find a breakthrough.
That changed in the final ten minutes. Alessandro Milesi was booked for Miami FC in the 82nd minute, and three minutes later Loudoun made the hosts pay. Davis finished from a Pedro Santos delivery to put the visitors ahead against the run of frustration building on the home side.
Miami FC pushed forward in search of an equalizer, but their desperation only created space at the back. Mason Tunbridge received a yellow card in the 89th minute — Miami's third booking of the match — as the home side's discipline frayed. Then, in the seventh minute of added time, Davis doubled his tally, converting from a James Murphy pass to seal the result and complete a late-game demolition.
The three yellow cards for Miami told the story of a side that grew increasingly ragged as the match slipped away from them. Davis, meanwhile, delivered a clinical reminder of what composure in front of goal can do to change a game entirely.
The result gives Loudoun United a valuable three points on the road as the USL Championship regular season enters its final stretch.
