Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC produced a stunning late comeback to beat Loudoun United FC 5-4 on the road in a nine-goal USL Championship contest on September 4. Khori Bennett scored twice, including the winner deep into stoppage time, while Elvis Amoh, Brennan Creek, and Jonas Fjeldberg also found the net for the visitors. Edward Davis hit a hat trick for Loudoun, with Matthew Mahoney adding a fourth, but it was not enough.

Bennett opened the scoring in the 17th minute, converting from a Jabari De Coteau delivery to give the Switchbacks an early lead. Loudoun responded before halftime when Davis finished off a James Murphy pass in the 38th minute to level proceedings. Murphy had already been booked in the eighth minute for his troubles.

The second half opened at a furious pace. Fjeldberg restored Colorado Springs' advantage in the 50th minute, only for Davis to equalize two minutes later from an Akil Watts feed. Davis then completed his hat trick in the 60th minute — again supplied by Watts — to put Loudoun ahead 3-2.

The Switchbacks refused to fold. Creek pulled them level in the 84th minute, finishing after a pass from Sadam Masereka. Mahoney looked to have sealed it for Loudoun three minutes later, making it 4-3, but Colorado Springs had other ideas. Amoh equalized in the first minute of stoppage time, and Bennett struck again in the seventh minute of added time to complete a remarkable turnaround and snatch all three points.

The result hands the Switchbacks a vital away win that could prove significant in the stretch run of the regular season.
