AV Alta FC came from behind to beat Orange County SC 2–1 in USL League One action on Saturday, with goals from Collin Anderson and Ilias Aoumaich overturning an early deficit.
Orange County struck first. Tom Brewitt opened the scoring in the 27th minute, converting from a Christopher Hegardt delivery to give the visitors the lead. AV Alta FC picked up a yellow card shortly after through Osvaldo Lay in the 33rd minute as tensions rose, but the hosts stayed in the contest.
Anderson leveled things just before halftime. Elliott Jahng picked him out in the 42nd minute and Anderson made no mistake, sending the teams into the break level at 1–1.
The second half was a scrappy affair for the home side. Javier Mariona was cautioned in the 57th minute — the second AV Alta booking of the match — but the hosts kept pushing. The breakthrough came in the 76th minute when Aoumaich finished off a Jimmie Villalobos pass to put AV Alta FC ahead for the first time.
From there, the home side managed the game but not without some nervous moments. Villalobos picked up a yellow in the 86th minute, and Aoumaich — the goalscorer — followed him into the referee's notebook three minutes later. Four bookings across the 90 minutes suggested AV Alta FC were doing whatever it took to hold on, and hold on they did.
The three points give AV Alta FC a valuable home win as the League One season moves deeper into the summer stretch.
