Rhode Island FC cruised to a comfortable 3–0 victory over Westchester SC on Saturday in USL League One action, with Clay Holstad, J.J. Williams, and Leonardo Afonso all finding the net.

The opening half hour passed without a breakthrough, but Rhode Island struck twice in quick succession before the break to take firm control. Holstad opened the scoring in the 41st minute, and Williams doubled the advantage just three minutes later to make it 2–0 heading into halftime. The rapid-fire combination left Westchester reeling and facing an uphill battle for the second 45.

Westchester needed an early response after the interval but never truly threatened one. Rhode Island remained in control of proceedings and put the result beyond any doubt in the 75th minute when Afonso finished off a pass from Aldair Sanchez to complete the scoring.

It was a clean night's work for the hosts in every sense. Neither side picked up a single yellow card across the 90 minutes, a rarity at any level of professional soccer. Rhode Island's defense held firm throughout, keeping Westchester at arm's length for most of the match.
