Mejia's own goal in first-half stoppage time opened the scoring for Sun City, J. Guerrero doubled the advantage in the 75th minute, and L. Sain's late strike in the 89th gave Cruizers only a consolation.
The match was scrappy from the start. Cruizers picked up yellow cards inside the opening 15 minutes, with A. Ugwumba Vizcarra cautioned in the sixth minute and Mejia following him into the book at the quarter-hour mark. Despite their indiscipline, Cruizers looked comfortable enough — until Mejia turned the ball into his own net just before halftime to hand Sun City a 1–0 lead heading into the break.
The second half brought more frustration for the hosts. A. Carriel was booked on the hour, Y. Meza followed in the 66th minute, and the cards kept stacking up. Guerrero then punished Cruizers in the 75th minute, finishing to make it 2–0. C. Valeriano earned a yellow in the same minute, the fifth Cruizers booking of the evening.
Sain pulled one back with a goal in the 89th minute to briefly raise hopes of a dramatic equalizer, but picked up a yellow card a minute later — Cruizers' sixth caution of the match — and the comeback never materialized.
