Birmingham Legion FC edged One Knoxville 3-2 in a five-goal USL W League contest on Sunday, claiming all three points on the road in a back-and-forth affair.

The match produced five goals across the 90 minutes, though neither side could establish comfortable control. Birmingham found the net three times to One Knoxville's two, and that single-goal margin proved enough for the visitors to leave Tennessee with the win.

One Knoxville will feel frustration at coming up short at home, particularly after matching Birmingham's attacking output for long stretches. Scoring twice against a side willing to commit numbers forward should have been enough to earn at least a point, but defensive lapses proved costly. Each time the hosts found a foothold in the game, Birmingham had an answer.

For their part, Birmingham showed the resilience required to win away from home in a competitive league. Taking and holding a lead on the road is difficult enough; doing so in a game where the opposition repeatedly threatened was a test of character that Legion FC ultimately passed.

The result moves Birmingham Legion FC up the table and adds momentum to their campaign, while One Knoxville will look to regroup quickly and turn their home ground back into a fortress in the weeks ahead.
