Portland Hearts of Pine cruised past New York Cosmos 3–1 at home on Saturday in USL League One action, with Ollie Wright scoring twice and Jay Tee Kamara adding another to put the result beyond doubt before halftime was even a distant thought.

Kamara opened the scoring in the 10th minute, finishing from an Ollie Wright delivery to give Portland an early lead. The two then reversed roles eight minutes later — Kamara turned provider and Wright converted to make it 2–0. The Cosmos had barely touched the ball between the two goals, and a yellow card to Sergio Chavez in the 16th minute and another to William Noecker in the 19th hinted at a side struggling to cope with Portland's early intensity.

The hosts carried their dominance into the second half. Wright grabbed his second of the night in the 49th minute, again fed by Kamara, to effectively kill the contest at 3–0. The pair's combination play was the defining feature of the match — two goals and two assists apiece between them.

New York did pull one back through Sebastián Guenzatti in the 83rd minute, but it was nothing more than a consolation. By that point, the game had grown scrappy. Portland picked up three yellow cards in the final 15 minutes, including bookings for Michel Poon-Angeron and Diogo Barbosa, as the hosts managed the closing stages without much concern for aesthetics.

The comfortable victory gives Portland Hearts of Pine valuable three points at home and reinforces their credentials as a side capable of punishing opponents early and often in the 2026 campaign.
