New Mexico United cruised past Monterey Bay FC 3–1 at home on Saturday, with Charlie Dennis scoring twice and Greg Hurst adding a third to seal a comfortable USL Championship victory.

Dennis opened the scoring in the 18th minute, finishing off a Zico Bailey delivery to give New Mexico an early lead. Nine minutes later, he doubled the advantage, this time converting from a Niall Reid-Stephen pass to put the hosts firmly in control before the half-hour mark. Dennis Sanchez picked up a yellow card shortly after for New Mexico, but the booking did little to disrupt their momentum heading into the break.

The second half followed a similar script early on. Hurst extended New Mexico's lead to three in the 56th minute, again benefiting from Reid-Stephen's creative work to make it 3–0. Reid-Stephen's two assists proved decisive in shaping the outcome.

Monterey Bay pulled one back almost immediately. Sebastian Lletget found the net in the 58th minute from a Paul Gindiri assist, briefly raising hopes of a comeback. Those hopes faded quickly, though, as the visitors lost their composure. Zackery Farnsworth was booked just a minute after the goal, and Stuart Ritchie followed him into the referee's notebook two minutes later. Monterey Bay's frustration was evident, and they never seriously threatened an equalizer despite the late consolation.

Kipp Keller received a yellow for New Mexico in the 65th minute, and Ryuga Nakamura was cautioned late on for Monterey Bay as the match wound down without further incident.

The result strengthens New Mexico United's position in the Western Conference standings as the regular season nears its conclusion.
