Birmingham Legion FC and Indy Eleven shared the spoils in a 2–2 draw in USL Championship action on Sunday, with Samuel McIllhatton's late equalizer rescuing a point for the hosts. Tyler Pasher and McIllhatton scored for Birmingham, while Edward Kizza and Josh O'Brien found the net for Indy.

Birmingham took the lead through Pasher in the 39th minute, and the hosts carried that advantage into the break looking relatively comfortable. The second half, though, was a different story.

Legion picked up three yellow cards in a 20-minute span — Seth Antwi in the 51st, McIllhatton in the 54th, and Dawson McCartney in the 71st — as the match grew increasingly scrappy. Indy took full advantage of Birmingham's indiscipline. Kizza leveled in the 68th minute, finishing from a Makel Rasheed delivery to make it 1–1.

The visitors then completed the turnaround in the 81st minute when O'Brien converted from a Logan Neidlinger pass to put Indy ahead for the first time. Birmingham, who had controlled the first half, suddenly faced the prospect of leaving with nothing.

McIllhatton — already on a yellow card — had other ideas. The midfielder popped up in the 89th minute, latching onto a Gevork Diarbian pass to drag Legion level at 2–2. It was a gutsy finish from a player one mistimed challenge away from an early exit.

The draw keeps both sides in the middle of the pack in the early weeks of the season, with neither able to build real momentum just yet.
