NPSLNew Jersey United AC and Players Development Academy played out a wild 3–3 draw in NPSL action on June 27, with six goals — four of them in the final ten minutes — ensuring neither side could claim all three points. M. Cancelliere, L. Mullen, and M. Porto scored for New Jersey United, while S. Taenaka bagged a brace and J. Madrid added the other for PDA.
Cancelliere opened the scoring in the 17th minute, giving the hosts an early lead they carried into halftime. PDA came out sharper after the break. Madrid equalized in the 50th minute, only for Mullen to restore New Jersey United's advantage just two minutes later.
The match then descended into chaos in the closing stages. Taenaka leveled at 2–2 in the 82nd minute, and tensions boiled over almost immediately — both J. Madrid and A. Ritter were cautioned in the 84th. PDA's problems deepened a minute later when D. Navas was shown a straight red card, reducing the visitors to ten men.
Playing shorthanded didn't seem to faze PDA. Taenaka struck again in the 90th minute to complete his brace and put the away side ahead 3–2. But Porto, who had been booked earlier in the first half, popped up with a dramatic equalizer in stoppage time to rescue a point for New Jersey United. The final moments grew even more fractious as PDA's E. Stingl was also sent off in the 90th minute, meaning the visitors finished the match with nine men on the pitch. J. Pinho picked up a yellow in the same sequence of late-game frustration.
The draw leaves both sides searching for the kind of consistency needed to make a push in the NPSL standings this summer.
