Charlotte Independence came from behind to beat Corpus Christi FC 2–1 in USL League One action on Wednesday night. Blake Bowen opened the scoring for Corpus Christi in the sixth minute, but goals from Jon Bakero in the 41st and Javen Romero deep in first-half stoppage time completed the turnaround before the break.

Corpus Christi struck first and struck early. Bowen's goal just six minutes in gave the visitors an ideal start and put Charlotte on the back foot. The Independence picked up a yellow card through Jefferson Amaya shortly after, and the home side looked unsettled. Jackson Dietrich was booked for Corpus Christi in the 25th minute as the game grew scrappy.

Charlotte found their footing as the half wore on. Bakero leveled in the 41st minute, and the Independence carried that momentum right through to the halftime whistle. Romero grabbed the go-ahead goal in first-half added time to send the hosts into the break with a 2–1 lead they hadn't looked likely to hold just 30 minutes earlier.

The second half was a tighter affair. Romero picked up a yellow card in the 54th minute, while Corpus Christi grew increasingly frustrated. Patrick Langlois was cautioned in the 70th minute, and Éamon Zayed joined him in the book in the dying seconds as the visitors chased an equalizer that never came.

The win gives Charlotte Independence a valuable three points at home as the season pushes past its midway mark, while Corpus Christi will look to regroup after letting a promising early lead slip away.
