Louisville City FC picked up a commanding 2-0 road win over Phoenix Rising FC on Wednesday night, with Mukwelle Akale and Zach Duncan finding the net in the second half to seal all three points in USL Championship action.

The first half was scoreless but far from uneventful. Phoenix Rising's discipline unraveled early, with Luke Biasi picking up a yellow card in just the sixth minute. Jean Eric Moursou followed into the referee's notebook in the 27th minute, and Pape Boye was cautioned seven minutes later. Three bookings before halftime painted a picture of a home side struggling to contain Louisville's attacking intent without resorting to fouls.

The deadlock broke eight minutes into the second half. Akale latched onto a pass from Zach Duncan and converted in the 53rd minute to give Louisville the lead. Phoenix's frustrations deepened when Aleksandar Vukovic was booked in the 58th minute — the fourth yellow card of the night for the hosts.

Duncan then got on the scoresheet himself in the 67th minute, finishing from a Chris Donovan feed to double the visitors' advantage. By that point, the game felt well beyond Phoenix Rising's reach. Louisville's Amadou Dia was the lone visiting player cautioned, picking up a yellow in the 63rd minute.

Phoenix's miserable evening was capped off by a fifth yellow card, this time for Daniel Flores in the 84th minute. Louisville saw out the remaining minutes comfortably, never looking troubled.

The result continues Louisville City FC's reputation as one of the USL Championship's most difficult teams to stop on the road, while Phoenix Rising will need to address their lack of composure if they hope to climb the table.
