San Antonio FC held off a second-half Sacramento Republic FC fightback to claim a 2–1 victory at home on Friday night in USL Championship action. Christian Sorto and Dmitri Erofeev scored in a dominant first-half spell for the hosts, while Forster Ajago pulled one back for Sacramento in the 55th minute.

San Antonio took control midway through the opening half. Sorto broke the deadlock in the 27th minute, finishing from a Dmitri Erofeev feed to make it 1–0. Erofeev then got on the scoresheet himself just six minutes later, doubling the advantage before the break. It was a clinical stretch from the hosts, who carved Sacramento open twice in quick succession after a relatively even opening.

Sacramento came out with more urgency after halftime and got their reward ten minutes into the second period. Ajago converted from an Arturo Rodríguez assist to cut the deficit to one and inject life into the contest.

What followed was an increasingly fractious affair. San Antonio picked up five yellow cards between the 59th and 83rd minutes — Akeem Ward, Sorto, Michael Maldonado, Jorge Hernández, and Joseph Batrouni all going into the referee's notebook — as the hosts disrupted Sacramento's momentum at every turn. Santiago Patiño added another late caution in stoppage time. Sacramento's Mark-Anthony Kaye and Aaron Essel were also booked as tempers flared on both sides.

Despite the pressure and the growing card count, San Antonio's two-goal cushion from the first half proved to be enough. Sacramento pushed but couldn't find an equalizer.

The three points keep San Antonio FC moving in the right direction as the season approaches the midway mark.
