El Paso Locomotive FC cruised to a 1–3 victory at Phoenix Rising FC on Saturday night, with Rubio Rubín scoring twice and Eric Calvillo adding a third to sink the hosts in USL Championship action.

The contest was chippy from the start, with El Paso's Tony Alfaro picking up a booking inside eight minutes. Rubín opened the scoring in the 11th minute, finishing off a feed from Amando Moreno to put Locomotive ahead early. Phoenix struggled to find rhythm as the fouls piled up on both sides, but Rafael Czichos pulled the hosts level just before halftime, converting from a John Scearce assist in the 41st minute to send the teams in at 1–1.

Any momentum Phoenix carried into the second half evaporated quickly. Calvillo restored El Paso's lead in the 51st minute, getting on the end of a Nicolás Cardona delivery to make it 1–2. From there, the match grew increasingly ill-tempered. Eight yellow cards were shown across the 90 minutes, and Phoenix's Luke Biasi was booked twice in the space of two minutes — first in the 78th, then again in the 80th — leaving Rising to see out the final stretch a man down.

Rubín sealed the result deep in stoppage time, latching onto a Kenneth Hoban pass in the 96th minute to complete his brace and put the final scoreline at 1–3.

The result hands El Paso a valuable three points on the road and compounds a difficult stretch for Phoenix Rising as the regular season enters its closing weeks.
