One Knoxville SC edged Charlotte Independence 2–1 at home on Saturday, with Kyle Linhares striking deep into the second half to steal all three points. Reudd Manin opened the scoring in the 13th minute, Souaibou Marou equalized for Charlotte in the 34th, and Linhares found the winner in the 88th.

The match got physical early. Real Gill picked up a yellow card just two minutes in for One Knoxville, setting the tone for a feisty contest. Manin gave the home side the lead shortly after, finishing in the 13th minute to put Knoxville ahead against the run of early cards.

Charlotte responded with aggression of their own. Jefferson Amaya was booked in the 25th minute, and Javen Romero followed him into the referee's notebook five minutes later. Sandwiched between those cautions, the Independence found their equalizer — Marou converting from a Jon Bakero feed in the 34th minute to level things at the break.

The second half was a tighter affair. William Perkins was cautioned early after the restart for One Knoxville, making it three yellows for the home side on the day. Neither team could find a breakthrough as the minutes ticked past the hour mark and into the final stretch.

Then Linhares delivered. With two minutes of regulation remaining, he latched onto a pass from Babacar Diene and buried the chance to send the home crowd into celebration. It was the kind of late goal that changes seasons.

The victory gives One Knoxville a crucial three points in the early stages of the USL League One campaign and ensures they carry momentum into their next fixture.
