Brooklyn FC opened their 2026 USL Championship campaign with a 1–0 victory over Indy Eleven on Sunday, with Juan Carlos Obregón Jr scoring the only goal of the match in the 26th minute.

The first half was largely controlled by the hosts. Obregón Jr found the net midway through the opening period to give Brooklyn the lead, and the home side carried that advantage into the break without major trouble.

The second half told a different story. The match grew increasingly fractious as Indy Eleven pressed for an equalizer. Brooklyn's Taimu Okiyoshi was cautioned in the 63rd minute, followed by teammate Ryan McLaughlin just two minutes later. Indy's Aodhan Quinn picked up a booking of his own in the 70th minute as challenges flew in from both sides.

Indy Eleven pushed numbers forward in the closing stages, but Brooklyn's defense held firm. The tension spilled over deep into stoppage time, with Gabriel Alves and Jaden Servania both collecting yellow cards for Brooklyn, while Indy's Kian Williams was also booked as frustrations boiled over in the dying moments.

Despite the late pressure, Brooklyn saw out the result comfortably enough to claim all three points. The hosts picked up five yellow cards across the ninety minutes — a sign of how physical the contest became after the break — but never looked in serious danger of conceding.

The win gives Brooklyn FC a strong start to the new season, while Indy Eleven will look to regroup quickly after a frustrating afternoon on the road.
