Birmingham Legion FC cruised to a 1–3 victory at Rhode Island FC on Saturday, with Sebastian Tregarthen, Phanuel Kavita, and Ronaldo Damus all finding the net to overwhelm the hosts. Leonardo Afonso scored Rhode Island's lone reply in the first half.

Legion wasted no time seizing control. Tregarthen opened the scoring in just the third minute, converting from a Dawson McCartney delivery to stun Rhode Island early. The hosts needed a response and got one in the 17th minute when Afonso latched onto a Clay Holstad pass to level the match at 1–1. Rhode Island carried some momentum after that equalizer, but couldn't find a second before the break. Frustration crept in late in the first half, with Karifa Yao picking up a yellow card in first-half stoppage time.

Any hope of a Rhode Island turnaround evaporated quickly after halftime. Hugo Bacharach was booked in the 47th minute, and a minute later Kavita restored Birmingham's lead, making it 2–1. The visitors kept pushing, and Damus put the game to bed in the 57th minute, finishing off a Tregarthen assist to make it 3–1. Tregarthen's fingerprints were all over the performance — a goal and an assist in a dominant display.

Rhode Island's afternoon went from bad to worse as Jojea Kwizera collected a yellow card in the 79th minute, with Seth Antwi also cautioned a minute later for Birmingham. The final half-hour offered little resistance from the hosts as Legion comfortably managed the contest.

The result gives Birmingham Legion FC valuable points on the road and leaves Rhode Island FC searching for answers after a disappointing home defeat early in the season.
