Tampa Bay Sun FC came from behind the pace of a quiet first half to claim a 1–2 victory at Fort Lauderdale United FC on Saturday, with goals from Faith Webber and Carlee Giammona proving enough to hold off a late consolation from Sh'nia Gordon.

The opening 45 minutes produced little in the way of clear-cut action based on the scoresheet, though Tampa Bay's Taylor Chism picked up a yellow card in the 14th minute. Neither side found the net before the break.

The game opened up in the second half. Webber broke the deadlock in the 68th minute, putting Tampa Bay ahead and forcing Fort Lauderdale to chase. Nine minutes later, Giammona doubled the visitors' lead, finishing off a pass from Jillian Shimkin to make it 2–0 and put the result firmly in Tampa Bay's hands.

Fort Lauderdale did pull one back through Gordon in the 86th minute, injecting some urgency into the final stages. But four minutes plus stoppage time proved insufficient for the hosts to find an equalizer, and Tampa Bay saw the game out comfortably enough.

It was a frustrating evening for Fort Lauderdale, who left themselves too much to do after conceding twice in a nine-minute span. Tampa Bay, meanwhile, showed clinical finishing when it mattered — two chances, two goals in the second half — and defended their advantage without major scares.

The result gives Tampa Bay Sun FC a valuable three points on the road in USL Super League play, a win that could prove significant as the season enters its closing stretch.
