Charleston Battery made quick work of Detroit City FC on Friday night, racing to a 2–0 victory thanks to a devastating two-minute burst in the first half. Colton Swan opened the scoring in the 14th minute before Langston Blackstock doubled the lead just two minutes later, and Detroit never found a way back.

Swan struck first, finishing off a delivery from Nathan Messer to give the Battery an early advantage. Before Detroit could regroup, Swan turned provider, setting up Blackstock to make it 2–0 in the 16th minute. The rapid-fire combination stunned Detroit City and gave Charleston a cushion they would never relinquish.

Detroit's Ryan Williams picked up a yellow card in the 24th minute as the visitors struggled to gain a foothold. Charleston weren't exactly composed either — Miguel Berry was cautioned in the 35th minute, the first of five bookings the home side would collect across the 90 minutes. Blackstock, Emilio Ycaza, Douglas Martínez, and Kirill Pakhomov all found their way into the referee's notebook as the match wore on, suggesting Charleston were happy to disrupt any Detroit momentum with hard fouls. Callum Montgomery also saw yellow for Detroit in the 75th minute.

Despite the scrappy nature of the second half, neither side managed to add to the scoresheet. Detroit pushed but lacked the cutting edge to trouble Charleston's backline in any meaningful way.

The win keeps Charleston Battery on a strong trajectory at home in the USL Championship season, while Detroit City FC will need to find answers quickly after a defeat that was effectively sealed inside the opening 20 minutes.
