Ristozi FC claimed a 1-0 victory away at Virginia Dream FC in NPSL action on Friday night, with the only goal of the game coming from an unfortunate own goal by J. Petty in the 38th minute.

The opening stages were scrappy. R. Toma picked up the first yellow card of the evening in the 19th minute, setting an early tone for what became a fractious affair. Virginia Dream FC looked to settle into possession but couldn't create anything meaningful before disaster struck just before halftime. Petty, attempting to deal with pressure in his own box, turned the ball into his own net to hand Ristozi FC a 1-0 lead heading into the break.

The second half saw tempers boil over in a bruising spell midway through the period. J. Crow was cautioned for Virginia Dream FC in the 58th minute, and Ristozi FC's J. Lovinger followed into the referee's notebook just a minute later. I. Conteh joined him at the 60-minute mark, and A. Slavov made it four yellows in seven minutes when he was booked in the 65th. The referee had his hands full keeping control.

Virginia Dream FC pushed for an equalizer in the closing stages but found no way through. To cap a miserable night, Petty — already responsible for the own goal — was shown a yellow card in the 90th minute.

Ristozi FC held firm to take all three points on the road, a result that could prove valuable as the NPSL season enters its decisive stretch.
