Miami FC came from behind in spirit but actually struck first, securing a 1–2 away victory over Rhode Island FC in USL Championship action on Saturday. Arney Rocha opened the scoring for the visitors in the 25th minute, Karifa Yao equalized for Rhode Island in the 36th, and Denilson Milanés netted the winner midway through the second half to give Miami all three points on the road.

Miami took the lead when Rocha finished off a chance created by Harwan Al Zubaidi to make it 1–0. Rhode Island responded well. Yao pulled the hosts level before halftime, converting from a Yutaro Tsukada delivery in the 36th minute to send the sides into the break at 1–1.

The second half turned scrappy. Rhode Island picked up three yellow cards in the space of 12 minutes — Amos Shapiro-Thompson in the 54th, Frank Nodarse in the 56th, and Noah Fuson in the 66th — as frustration appeared to creep into their game. Miami were not immune to the referee's notebook either, with Mason Tunbridge cautioned in the 53rd minute.

Milanés made Rhode Island pay in the 74th minute, finding the net to restore Miami's advantage. The forward had been booked just five minutes earlier but kept his composure when it mattered most, delivering the decisive goal.

Rhode Island pushed late but could not find another equalizer, and Miami held on comfortably enough to see out the result.

The win gives Miami FC a valuable three points away from home as the season enters its final stretch, while Rhode Island will look to regroup quickly after a physical, card-heavy performance yielded nothing.
