Oakland Roots SC came away from Phoenix with a 4–3 victory on Saturday night, surviving a furious comeback attempt in a second half that produced all seven goals. Peter Wilson scored twice (49', 78') for the visitors, with Daniel Trejo (56') and Florian Valot (74') also finding the net. Ihsan Sacko (62'), Diego Gómez (72'), and Kelvin Arase (90') replied for Phoenix Rising FC, but it was never quite enough.

A scrappy first half failed to produce a goal but set the tone for what followed. Tyler Gibson picked up a yellow card in the 43rd minute, and Adrian Pelayo was booked moments after the restart. Then Oakland struck. Wilson opened the scoring in the 49th minute, and the Roots quickly pushed for more despite collecting three yellow cards in six minutes — Michael Edwards, Jesús de Vicente, and goalkeeper Kendall McIntosh all going into the book.

None of it disrupted Oakland's momentum. Trejo doubled the lead in the 56th minute, finishing off a Wilson feed. Sacko pulled one back for Phoenix in the 62nd minute, then turned provider ten minutes later, setting up Gómez to make it 2–2.

The equalizer stood for just two minutes. Wolfgang Prentice carved open the Phoenix defense to tee up Valot in the 74th minute, then did it again four minutes later, this time picking out Wilson for his second of the night. At 4–2, the game looked done.

Arase converted from an Aleksandar Vukovic pass in the 90th minute to set up a tense finish, but Oakland held firm to take all three points — a statement road win that could prove significant as the Championship season enters its second half.
