The visitors made an aggressive start despite picking up an early booking when Kacey Smekrud was cautioned in the fifth minute. That didn't slow Sporting JAX down. Brown opened the scoring in the 20th minute, finishing off a Sophia Boman delivery to give the away side the lead. Fort Lauderdale barely had time to regroup before DeSmit doubled the advantage nine minutes later, converting from a Grace Phillpotts assist to make it 2-0 before the half-hour mark.

Fort Lauderdale offered little in response. The hosts went into the break two goals down and struggled to generate any meaningful momentum in the second half. Frustration crept in late as Paul Jennison picked up a yellow card in the 82nd minute, followed by Julia Grosso six minutes later — bookings that underlined a difficult evening for the home side rather than any late push for a comeback.

Sporting JAX managed the game comfortably after the interval, rarely looking troubled despite Sophie Jones collecting a first-half caution of her own. The disciplined defensive display ensured a clean sheet to complement the clinical first-half finishing.
