Monterey Bay FC held off a late Sporting JAX fightback to claim a 2–1 victory in USL Championship action on Wednesday night. Joel Garcia and Riley Bidois scored for the hosts, while Kieran Sadlier pulled one back for the visitors in a second half that carried far more tension than the first.

Garcia opened the scoring in the 19th minute, finishing off a pass from Paul Gindiri to give Monterey Bay an early advantage. The home side controlled proceedings from there, carrying the lead comfortably into halftime without major alarm.

The second half was a different story. Sporting JAX found an equalizer through Sadlier in the 70th minute, suddenly injecting life into a contest that had looked largely settled. The goal shifted momentum firmly toward the visitors, and the match grew scrappy — Ryuga Nakamura picked up a yellow card for Monterey Bay in the 75th minute, and Wan Kuzain was booked for Sporting JAX two minutes later as tempers frayed.

Monterey Bay needed a response, and Bidois delivered it. He restored the lead in the 80th minute, then picked up a yellow card four minutes later — though by that point, the damage was done. Sporting JAX pushed for another equalizer in the closing stages but couldn't find a way through.

The result gives Monterey Bay FC a valuable three points at home and ensures they bounced back well after conceding the equalizer, a sign of resilience that could prove important as the season progresses deeper into the summer stretch.
