Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC cruised past Charleston Battery 3–1 at home on Saturday, with Trevor Amann, Daniel Griffin, and Joao Victor Souza all finding the net in a comfortable USL Championship victory.

The Hounds wasted no time setting the tone. Amann opened the scoring just two minutes in, finishing from a Jackson Walti feed to put Pittsburgh ahead before Charleston had settled. Griffin doubled the lead in the 16th minute, converting after good work from Amann, who turned provider. The Battery responded almost immediately — Douglas Martínez pulled one back two minutes later, heading home from a Nathan Messer delivery to cut the deficit to 2–1 heading into a scrappy end to the first half.

Charleston carried some momentum into the second half, but Pittsburgh restored their two-goal cushion in the 61st minute. Joao Victor Souza latched onto a Samuel Bassett pass to make it 3–1 and effectively kill the contest.

The final 30 minutes grew increasingly fractious. Martínez, who had scored Charleston's only goal, picked up a yellow card in the 78th minute and then a second just three minutes later, leaving the Battery to see out the closing stages a man down. Pittsburgh collected four bookings of their own across the match, including one for Amann, though none carried serious consequence.

The win strengthens Pittsburgh's position in the Eastern Conference standings and extends a strong run of form at home, while Charleston will need to regroup quickly after a result that got away from them early.
