865 Alliance produced a stunning late comeback to beat Statesville FC 3–1 on the road in NPSL action on Saturday, scoring three times in the final four minutes after trailing for almost the entire match.
Statesville looked set for all three points after E. Castro opened the scoring in just the fourth minute, giving the hosts an early lead they carried deep into the second half. For more than 80 minutes, 865 Alliance pushed without reward, unable to find a way through.
The middle stretch grew scrappy. J. Gutierrez picked up a yellow card for 865 Alliance in the 51st minute, and Statesville's T. Baker followed into the book in the 66th. Neither side could shift the momentum — until the closing stages, when the match turned on its head.
