Phoenix Rising FC earned a 1-0 victory over Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC on Saturday, with Ihsan Sacko's second-half strike proving the difference at the home side's expense.

The first half offered little in the way of decisive moments, with neither team able to find a breakthrough before the interval. The contest began to heat up early in the second half, though, as Pittsburgh's Albert Dikwa picked up a yellow card in the 53rd minute. Phoenix's Jean Eric Moursou followed him into the referee's notebook just four minutes later, setting an edgier tone for the remainder of the match.

That edge worked in Phoenix's favor. In the 64th minute, Gunnar Studenthofft threaded a pass to Sacko, who made no mistake with the finish to put the visitors ahead. It was a clinical moment in an otherwise tight game, and it gave Phoenix something to protect.

Pittsburgh pushed for an equalizer in the final stretch, but the Rising defense held firm. Charlie Dennis was cautioned in the 89th minute as Phoenix did what was necessary to see out the closing stages. The Riverhounds ultimately couldn't muster enough to level the score, and the final whistle confirmed a frustrating night for the home faithful.

The result gives Phoenix Rising a valuable three points on the road in USL Championship play, while Pittsburgh will look to regroup quickly after a defeat that could weigh on their early-season positioning in the Eastern Conference standings.
