Rhode Island FC cruised to a comfortable 3–0 victory over Westchester SC on Friday night, with Clay Holstad, J.J. Williams, and Leonardo Afonso all finding the net in a dominant USL Championship performance.

The first half was goalless for 40 minutes before Rhode Island broke through in emphatic fashion. Holstad opened the scoring in the 41st minute, and the hosts doubled their lead just three minutes later when Williams made it 2–0 heading into the break. The quick-fire combination gave Westchester SC virtually no time to regroup, turning what had been a tight contest into a commanding position for Rhode Island.

The second half followed a similar pattern. Rhode Island controlled proceedings without needing to force the issue, and Westchester struggled to generate any meaningful response. Afonso put the result beyond all doubt in the 75th minute, finishing off a chance created by Aldair Sanchez to cap a clean performance from the home side.

It was a disciplined outing all around — neither team picked up a single yellow card across the 90 minutes, a rarity at any level of professional soccer.

The shutout will please Rhode Island's coaching staff as much as the three goals.
