New York Cosmos picked up a comfortable 0–2 victory at Corpus Christi FC on Wednesday night, with Lamin Jawneh and Philip Spengler scoring in each half to seal all three points on the road.

The Cosmos took early control. Jawneh, who had been booked just sixteen minutes earlier, showed no hesitation when he found the net in the 25th minute, finishing off a pass from Frankie Ljucovic to put the visitors ahead. It was a confident response from a player who could have retreated into caution after the early yellow.

Corpus Christi struggled to find a way back into the game. Éamon Zayed picked up a booking before halftime, and Shannon Gomez followed him into the referee's notebook midway through the second half as frustration mounted for the home side.

The Cosmos put the match beyond doubt in the 76th minute. Philip Spengler doubled the lead, converting from an Ozzie Ramos assist to make it 2–0. From there, the visitors managed the clock effectively, content to absorb what little Corpus Christi could muster going forward.

The closing stages grew scrappy. Sam Roscoe-Byrne was cautioned for Corpus Christi in the 89th minute, and the Cosmos collected three late bookings of their own — Darren Sidoel, Tristan Stephani, and Sergio Chavez all carded in the final minutes and stoppage time. No red cards were shown, but the referee had plenty of work to do.

The win strengthens the Cosmos' position in the USL League One standings, while Corpus Christi will need to regroup quickly after a night that offered them little to build on.
