Sacramento Republic FC earned a convincing 3–1 victory away at Oakland Roots SC on Friday night, with Kyle Edwards scoring twice to put the NorCal rivalry firmly to bed. Memo Rodríguez opened the scoring for the visitors, while Florian Valot briefly pulled Oakland level before Sacramento took control.

The match sparked to life quickly. Rodríguez gave Sacramento the lead in the 19th minute, finishing off a Jack Gurr delivery to make it 1–0. Oakland's response was almost immediate. Valot, who had been booked just five minutes earlier, leveled the score in the 21st minute with a finish set up by Keegan Tingey. The yellow card clearly did nothing to cool him down.

Aaron Essel picked up a caution of his own for Sacramento in the 26th minute as the first half continued at a feisty pace, but neither side could find a second goal before the break.

The deadlock lasted until the 75th minute, when Edwards struck to restore Sacramento's advantage. The forward then sealed the result deep in stoppage time, converting from a Rodríguez pass to complete his brace and make it 3–1. It was a clinical finish to a game Oakland had been very much in at halftime.

Sacramento's second-half dominance turned a tight contest into a comfortable away win, one that will strengthen their position in the USL Championship standings as the season pushes toward its final stretch.
