Oakland Roots SC came from behind to beat El Paso Locomotive FC 2–1 at home on Friday night, with goals from Peter Wilson and Tucker Lepley overturning an early deficit in a USL Championship contest.

El Paso struck first and struck fast. Rubio Rubín gave the visitors the lead in just the third minute, finishing off a pass from Álvaro Quezada to put Locomotive on top before Oakland had time to settle. The early goal set the tone for a scrappy first half, with Arturo Ortíz picking up a yellow card in the 18th minute as challenges flew in.

Oakland pressed for an equalizer and found it right at the end of the first half. Wilson leveled the score in first-half stoppage time, converting from a Jesús de Vicente delivery to send the teams into the break level at 1–1.

The second half saw El Paso's discipline begin to fray. Eric Calvillo was booked in the 58th minute, and Rubín — already on the scoresheet — followed him into the referee's notebook just a minute later. Oakland controlled the tempo from there, and the breakthrough arrived in the 83rd minute when Tucker Lepley found the net off a Wolfgang Prentice assist to put Roots ahead for the first time. Florian Valot picked up a late yellow in stoppage time as Oakland saw out the result.

The comeback win gives Oakland Roots three valuable points at home and continues a strong run of form as the season pushes deeper into May.
