Grove United earned a 2–0 victory over Virginia Atlantic FC in NPSL action on Wednesday, with R. Heinemann and A. Senior providing the goals to secure all three points at home.

Heinemann opened the scoring in the 21st minute, giving Grove United an early advantage they would not relinquish. The hosts carried that lead into halftime and showed no signs of letting up after the break.

Virginia Atlantic came out pressing in the second half, but Grove United's E. Cazares picked up a yellow card in the 46th minute as the home side looked to disrupt any early momentum from the visitors. It didn't derail Grove United's game plan. Senior doubled the lead in the 68th minute, effectively putting the contest to bed.

From there, Grove United managed the match comfortably. Virginia Atlantic FC offered little in response, unable to break through a home defense that kept a clean sheet across 90 minutes. No red cards were shown, though the match carried enough bite to suggest the rivalry has some edge to it.

The result gives Grove United a valuable home win as the NPSL season continues to take shape, and consecutive strong performances could see them climb into contention in the standings.
