El Paso Locomotive FC and Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC played out a 2–2 draw in their USL Championship clash on Saturday, with Rubio Rubín's brace canceled out by goals from Khori Bennett and Isaiah Foster.

Colorado Springs struck first. Bennett gave the Switchbacks an early lead in the fifth minute, finishing off a pass from Isaiah Foster to put the visitors ahead. El Paso needed time to respond, but Rubín leveled in the 21st minute to send the sides into halftime level at 1–1.

Rubín wasted little time after the break, grabbing his second of the night in the 50th minute to put El Paso in front for the first time. The momentum seemed firmly with the home side, but the lead lasted only 17 minutes. Foster, the provider for the opening goal, got on the scoresheet himself in the 67th minute, converting from a Sam Williams assist to restore parity.

The final 25 minutes grew increasingly fractious. El Paso picked up six yellow cards between the 53rd and 82nd minutes — Amando Moreno, Kenneth Hoban, Diego Abitia, Roberto Avila, Eric Calvillo, and Alex Méndez all going into the referee's notebook. Colorado Springs' Juan Tejada was also cautioned. Despite the rising tensions, neither side could find a winner.

Rubín's two-goal performance will be the headline for El Paso, though the Locomotive will rue their inability to hold the lead after going ahead early in the second half. For Colorado Springs, Foster's involvement in both goals — one assist and one finish — made him the standout performer. The point apiece leaves both teams searching for their first win in the early stages of the 2026 season.
