Richmond Kickers and Portland Hearts of Pine played out a 1–1 draw in USL League One on Saturday, with Matteo Kidd opening the scoring for the visitors in the first half before Joshua Kirkland equalized midway through the second.

Portland struck first in the 37th minute. Jay Tee Kamara picked out Kidd, who finished to give Hearts of Pine the lead heading into the break. Kamara picked up a yellow card shortly after, in the 42nd minute, but the visitors carried their advantage into halftime.

Richmond had already been cautioned once through Zahir Vasquez in the 29th minute, and a second booking followed when Darwin Espinal went into the referee's notebook in the 66th minute. The Kickers were walking a disciplinary tightrope but kept pushing forward.

The equalizer came in the 74th minute. Owen O'Malley delivered the key pass and Kirkland converted to level the match at one apiece. Richmond sensed an opportunity to complete the comeback but couldn't find a winner, and their frustration showed — Austin Amer became the team's third yellow card of the evening in the 85th minute. Three bookings for the home side painted a picture of a team that had to fight and foul to stay in the contest.

Neither side could break the deadlock in the closing stages, and the points were shared. The draw keeps both Richmond and Portland in the middle of the USL League One table as the season enters its final stretch, with neither side able to afford many more dropped points if playoff ambitions are to stay alive.
