Portland Hearts of Pine edged AV ALTA FC 1–0 in USL League One on Sunday, with Serigne Faye striking deep into stoppage time to snatch all three points. Faye found the net in the 90+3rd minute, finishing off a pass from Diego Gonzalez to settle a fractious contest that looked destined for a goalless draw.

The first half offered little in the way of goals but plenty of needle. AV ALTA's Jerry Desdunes picked up a booking in the 41st minute, setting the tone for what became a card-heavy affair. Maboumou Alassane followed him into the referee's notebook early in the second half, cautioned in the 50th minute.

Portland were not immune to the ill-discipline either. Diego Letayf was booked on 62 minutes, and the cards kept coming for both sides as the match wore on — eight yellows in total across the two teams. Miguel Pajaro and Denzil Smith were cautioned for AV ALTA, while Matteo Kidd saw yellow for the hosts.

Through it all, neither side could break the deadlock in regular time. Then, with the clock ticking past 90 minutes, Gonzalez — who had been booked just moments earlier in the 89th minute — delivered the key pass for Faye to convert. Portland's bench erupted. The stoppage time stretched well beyond the initial addition, with Ollie Wright collecting a yellow card deep into the extra minutes as tensions boiled over.

The late winner gives Portland Hearts of Pine a hard-fought three points and ensures their momentum continues as the USL League One season enters its final stretch.
