Hartford Athletic and Charleston Battery played out a 1–1 draw at home on Wednesday night in USL Championship action, with Augustine Williams and Baboucarr Njie trading goals either side of halftime.
The first half was scoreless for long stretches before Hartford broke through just before the interval. Williams found the net in the 42nd minute, finishing off a feed from Baboucarr Njie to give the hosts a 1–0 lead heading into the break.
Hartford carried that advantage deep into the second half, but Charleston found their equalizer in the 75th minute. Njie provided the finishing touch for the Battery, leveling the match and shifting momentum toward the visitors.
The final fifteen minutes grew testy. Charleston's Luis Zamudio picked up a yellow card in the 79th minute, and Hartford's Ben Mines followed into the referee's notebook three minutes later. Douglas Martínez collected another caution for Charleston in the 88th minute as frustrations mounted on both sides, but neither team could find a winner.
The point apiece does little to separate two sides looking to solidify their positioning in the second half of the season.
