AC Newport dismantled American Soccer Club New York 5–0 on the road Saturday in NPSL action, with five different players finding the net. Bruno Saramago opened the scoring in the 12th minute, S. Fitzgerald doubled the lead just before halftime, A. Kolbe made it three shortly after the hour mark, and late goals from E. Palomeque Mena and C. Morandi completed the rout in the final minutes.

Newport set the tone early. Saramago's 12th-minute strike gave the visitors a cushion before ASC New York could settle into the match, and the away side controlled proceedings from there. Fitzgerald's goal right at the stroke of halftime sent the teams into the break at 2–0, effectively killing the contest as a competitive affair.

Kolbe extended the advantage to three in the 58th minute, and ASC New York's frustration began to show — though it was Newport picking up the bookings. J. Gil Mejia was cautioned in the 32nd minute, M. Adamek followed in the 68th, and B. Walker received a yellow in the 79th. Three cards in a match they dominated so thoroughly suggested Newport were not content to simply manage their lead.

The final ten minutes turned into target practice. Palomeque Mena struck in the 87th minute before Morandi added a fifth two minutes later, putting an emphatic stamp on a performance that was controlled from first whistle to last.

The comprehensive victory marks a significant statement for AC Newport early in the NPSL season and raises serious questions about ASC New York's ability to compete at this level.
