Charleston Battery ground out a 1–0 victory over Monterey Bay FC on Saturday night, with Camilo Sánchez scoring the only goal of the game in the 78th minute.

The first half offered little in terms of clear-cut chances, though Monterey Bay's frustrations began to show before the break. Nick Ross picked up a yellow card in the 41st minute, the first of three bookings the visitors would collect on the night.

The second half followed a similar pattern of tight, cagey play. Monterey Bay's discipline continued to slip when Facundo Canete was cautioned in the 60th minute, and the accumulating fouls hinted at a side struggling to contain Charleston's attacking pressure.

The breakthrough finally came with 12 minutes remaining. Jeremy Kelly delivered the key pass, and Sánchez finished to put the Battery ahead. It was a moment that rewarded Charleston's patience after a largely locked contest.

Monterey Bay pushed for an equalizer in the closing stages but never truly threatened to find one. Judson earned a third yellow card for the visitors in the 87th minute, capping a night of persistent fouling that ultimately yielded nothing.

Charleston saw out the remaining minutes without alarm, collecting all three points in comfortable fashion despite the narrow margin.

The win keeps Charleston Battery's momentum going in the USL Championship, while Monterey Bay FC will head home empty-handed and needing to address a lack of discipline that cost them dearly on the road.
